"The only thing I don't like about Dan Ablan's modo Signature Courseware is that I didn't get it sooner." -Rick Baker, Oscar Winning Movie Effects Artist
"I must say your videos are second to none (Believe me I have tried most!) Your relaxed style is great, and fun to listen to. I find that I take in much more listening to you than simply reading from a book. -Lee G.
"I just want to thank Mr Dan Ablan for Lightwave v9 Signature Courseware. My son decided that he would like to learn Lightwave and Dan Ablan’s training build a solid understanding and foundation, my son is 12! Dan's Inside LightWave v9 book is my next purchase from Amazon. I also want to thank D Garage for support and shipping my parcel to South Africa. I had a real bad run with a well known supplier in the US on Lightwave training and lost close to $400.Thy don’t respond to my emails, faxes or phone calls!! 7 weeks later no response no parcel. I hope Mr Ablan will work on an advanced course for Lightwave 9. I will be the first to purchase." -Konrad Rensburg
"Being able to create virtual images is something I wanted to do all my life and have finally been able to take the plunge." -Bob P.
"Just wanted to say thanks for a good two days of training. You were able to demystify the program and arm me with enough knowledge to be that much more dangerous than I was when I walked in on Monday." -Steve J.
"Thanks - As a newbie to this LW program I want to thank you for your work. You make what appears to be unbelieveably complex - seem possible. both my students and myself thank you." -Kyle B. "Just purchased your signature course v9 - WOW! I have seen alot of traning videos ! all kinds of cd/dvds and I must say you guys have done A great job! Thanks ! Its just nice to see someone that can explain how things work in the real world!" -Walter B.
"Dan, I have to confess, I thought I'd made a mistake for the first five or ten minutes. Then I settled in to the way you work, and actually realized (slightly ahead of your own revelation) that you were working through the exercise in real time, working without a net...that I was getting both technical know-how and insight into the way a creative type approaches a modeling project. I'm two projects (OK, one project) into this pair of CD-ROMS, and as far as I'm concerned, the courseware's already paid foritself. I've picked up some tips I wouldn't have ever guessed at, but more importantly (at least at this point :-p) I've gotten comfortable with my own experimental approach. Some of your remarks about obsessing on scene details too early have liberated me, and it's been a real joy to realize that vastly experienced modelers will spend at least part of their workday saying to themselves, "Hm, I wonder what'll happen if I do *this*...." At any rate, kudos on your courseware. I'd pre-order your book as well, but I'm about to move, and I do not want to get into that with Amazon. I'll pick that up after it hits the market. Right now, I'm searching for a forum. Where do your students hang out to gossip behind your back? As you foretold, I decided to mostly watch the videos on a first pass, but I couldn't stand it any longer when you started on the product shot, so I jumped in on constructing the vial. (I'll backtrack to the candlestick.) It's looking pretty good to me so far. I've even brewed up my first hand-painted bump file to add little grip ridges around the vial cap. (Yeah, I'm insufferably pleased with myself; tragic, I know :D) But there's one teensy detail that's driving me nuts. If I can find a forum, I'll whine at my classmates to see what kind of hints they can come up with :D t/c, and best wishes on your future ventures!" -- dan (no relation)
"Your instruction is AMAZING! Thank you so much! I am on movie 23 and loving it! Funny too! I first learned under Bob Anderson, Washburn University's Adult Ed program, Las Vegas then Baltimore. But yours is way more comprehensive and less expensive. The QuickTime movies allow me to "view-and-do" coin that if you wish. This time I really want to learn character animation." -Art H.
"Dan, I think you should produce a instructional video on Architectural visualization for Lightwave users. A lot of people like myself are venturing into this field and we need assistance. I own your signature courseware and love it. Thats why I think your the man for the job. 3D Studio Max has books and lots of tutorials on photo realistic Architectural visualization but Lightwavers seem to be left out in the cold on this one. As this ArchViz field begins to explode I think it would be well worth it to further develop your DVD series with a title tackling ArchViz." -Jim E.
"Hello Everyone, Just a short note to say Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2008! Currently I am immensely enjoying the MODO 301 DVD that I purchase from Luxology along with the software MODO 301. It is a great DVD, extremely helpful and wonderfully comforting in the way Dan walks you through various exercises: It is almost as if he is in the room ...."Oh, yeah and here is another interesting thing I want to show you...." His manner is one of pleasant friendliness and slow unfolding. I applaud everyone at 3D garage for all of their efforts in an excellent presentation. As you can see from my account I have recently ordered the DVD MODO 2, detailing exercises on the previous MODO 201. I am hoping that this will give me additional insights into other areas and more practice." -James B.
